This project involved the hard and soft landscaping to a courtyard on campus, where a building had been demolished previously.

As the courtyard was in a central location, with only one point of access, there was close liaison with the College’s Estates Team to ensure that access through campus to site was achieved safely. This was predominantly down to a holding layby, as well as the timing of deliveries to quiet periods of the College day – such as before 8am and after 4pm – to minimise disruption.

The works included the regrading of levels, to enable level access to the various entrances in the adjoining buildings, as well as turfing, paving and the forming of a seating area. As the location of the courtyard was where there was an existing building demolished, there was a lot of underground services and obstructions that were discovered during the works. Despite this disruption, the project was completed on time and within budget.
