This project entailed the replacement of all curtain walling, including external doors and three external canopies around the school building, utilising a SAPA Dualframe system and Elegance 52 sloped curtain walling. Strip out works included the licensed removal of asbestos containing materials within existing curtain walling components, which was undertaken at the beginning of the project in the school summer holiday period. Originally planned to last over 30 weeks, the contract period was cut to 15 weeks. This was achieved by accelerating early phases and making efficient use of the school holiday down time. Subsequent phases were undertaken during term time, and all school areas remained live during this 9 week section of the works. Other works included associated mechanical and electrical alterations and making good of floor finishes and decoration. The project was safely and successfully completed ahead of programme and on budget.
