The project was to build a new teaching block incorporating two new classrooms, a circulation area, toilet facilities and an external play area beneath a canopy. Also renewing services to the nearby nursery block.

The construction comprised of traditional strip foundations, solid floor slab, traditional block work cavity walls. The roof construction was a standing seam roof with a supporting metal decking beneath, also forming an overhanging canopy area within the construction, Glulam roof beams and supporting posts. Three elevations and underside of sofits were clad in cedar boarding, the fourth elevation has a render finish.

The contractor design elements were, drainage, foundations, floor slab, Glulam beams/supports, standing seam roofing, electrics, mechanical and underfloor heating.

The project was carried out with the school and adjoining nursery in full operation at all times, access for all deliveries and operatives were carefully coordinated with the school as movement between the two buildings at meal times had to be taken into account.

Existing ingress and egress had to be re-arranged to cause as little disruption as possible during the build.
