The project was to form a new meeting/function room, disabled toilet facilities and large staff office whilst altering various other rooms to form storage space. The works were carried whilst the festival centre which has a cinema, coffee shop beneath our site area and further function rooms was still in full operation. This meant that all work had to be carefully planned alongside the festival centre staff.

The construction was built up off existing roof/wall finishes using a traditional cavity wall construction with stone cills and copings, posi joist flat roof with ply decking and a seamless roof finish. Double glazed timber windows to match existing building. Dividing walls internally were metal stud with acoustic insulation and boards. The large room has a sliding dividing wall to allow the centre to hold more functions at the same time, plasterboard and skim ceilings, new floor finishes and complete decoration to new area.

The most difficult part of the contract was all materials had to be taken over the existing building using a tower scaffold, lift, and involved handballing all bricks , blocks, roofing etc over the existing structure as no other access was available.
