Pave Aways provide a diverse range of construction projects ranging in value from £25,000 to £6 million.

Whilst 40% of our projects are new builds, they account for over 54% of our turnover. This is because new build projects tend to be larger in scale than refurbs.

New build projects can be on greenfield land, or sites where there are existing buildings that need to be demolished prior to new and exciting buildings being constructed.

Our new build projects vary from £100,000 to in excess of £8million, and cover a variety of sizes and sectors. Our current projects vary from a small class base extension, to a housing development of 40 dwellings, to the construction of a new 22 lab science block.

We are experienced in all types off new build – including traditional masonry, timber frame and steel frame. We are able to complete a project to varying degrees of fit out – ie leaving a shell for full fit out by tenants, or a full turn-key solution, where we provide everything within the building and the occupants can walk in one day and start work immediately.

Each refurbishment presents its own unique challenge. They generally occur in environments which remain active and live throughput the construction period – in environments such as schools, colleges and factories. In these environs we recognise the importance of causing as little disruption as possible. Meetings are held weekly with the Estates or General Manager, to discuss upcoming works. Days and times to carry out noisy or disruptive works are agreed, together with times when certain areas may be out of bounds. If the project calls for it, these meetings can be increased in frequency to daily, for certain phases of the contract. These are informal meetings, and further communication between both parties on site will happen on a nearly continuous basis.

As mentioned above, there will elements of works that will have to be carried out ‘out of hours’ to minimise disruption. These are clearly noted on our programmes. Another way in which disruption is minimised is the careful logistical arrangement of deliveries. In schools and colleges, the start and end of the day are generally extremely busy. All of our supply chain are made aware of delivery restrictions.

Approximately half of our projects are refurbishment projects, which accounts for 34% of our turnover.

We are on a number of frameworks from minor housing repairs to construction of schools. Our current frameworks are repairs and refurbishments to void properties, together with roofing repairs.

The works carried out on a framework basis have their own pool of resources. They are generally run from our Wrexham Office and have a dedicated Contracts Manager and Site Manager for each contract. As we are working in, or near, to tenanted homes we are aware of our social responsibilities and the increased need to work in a safe and conscientious manner. We have a Tenant Liaison Officer who is another point of contact should there be any issues.
