Paving the way for construction workers of the future

Bringing fresh talent into the construction industry is a key priority for Pave Aways so we’re delighted to be taking part in a new careers event for young people in Shropshire.

The two-month long Virtual Careers Live! has been organised by the Shrewsbury Colleges Group, The Careers and Enterprise Company and Shropshire Chamber of Commerce. To explore our virtual stand, click here.

The event aims to get 13 to 18-year-olds exploring what kind of careers they might like to work towards and also understand both the pathways to get there and the range of job roles available.

Our virtual stand in the Built Environment hall showcases some of the projects we have worked on, gives the attendees a chance to hear from our apprentices about working in construction and for Pave Aways. It also profiles some of the women working in the industry and provides useful information about how to apply for an apprenticeship with us.

Our training co-ordinator Michelle Benjamin said: “Normally we would attend dozens of careers events in schools and colleges every year to talk to young people about the different roles in construction and the different ways they can get into the industry.

“There are a lot of career options from practical to office-based jobs that contribute to a successful build and we hope that our stand will inspire some young people to consider this sector when it comes to their future career.”

As well as giving career advice through schools and colleges, we offer on site and office based work experience to young people to sample life in the construction industry.

Our Build a Bench workshops, where people can learn hands-on construction skills can also be hosted in schools. To find out more or book a visit, please contact michelle.benjamin@paveaways.co.uk.
