Mental health awareness week

At Pave Aways we believe that looking after your mental health is as important as your physical health, so we’ve organised a series of special events for our team during Mental Health Awareness Week.

Eating well, staying hydrated, exercising, getting into nature, being social and getting help if you need it are all ways that we’re encouraging our staff to look after themselves.

Initiatives taking place this week include giving out fresh fruit to encourage healthy eating; handing out Pave Aways water bottles to our site staff to make sure they can stay hydrated; promoting the counselling service to employees via the Network of Staff Supporters; lunch time yoga and sports sessions including a staff rounders match at Shrewsbury Cricket Club.

Managing Director Steven Owen said: “The mental health and wellbeing of our team is always a priority, but the last year in particular has led to additional challenges for many, as we coped with the effects of lockdown and the pandemic and not being able to socialise, chat to friends face to face or see our families.

“We’re a social team and it’s been hard not to be able to interact as much as we would have done in the past. It’s going to be great to get together with some outdoor activities this week and to use it as a reminder to staff that there is support available and that their welfare is paramount. By looking after them this week, we hope it will encourage them to look after themselves and ask for help if they need it.”
