SME of the Year!

We have kicked off the awards season in style by being named SME of the Year at the Constructing Excellence Midlands awards.

In the first year of entering these awards, which celebrates companies and construction projects across the West Midlands, we were also highly commended in the People Development category.

To win SME of the Year award, we had to demonstrate that we had engaged with and developed best practice in construction and organisational management; invested in our team through training, development and setting a positive organisational culture; taken action to improve our productivity and work smarter including digital technologies; had a supply chain that adds value to our projects, clients or suppliers; and had a system of setting and monitoring our development and performance.

Managing Director Steven Owen said: “We are delighted to have won the SME of the Year award. It underlines the work we have done to build a positive framework for the long-term development and sustainability of Pave Aways and celebrates our people-first ethos.

“To be highly commended for the People Development award was a bonus as we have worked hard on this aspect of our business over the past year to ensure we were delivering an inclusive environment that nurtures and develops every individual.

“The judges were obviously impressed when they met our team and, as we head towards our 50th year in business this October, winning SME of the Year is a great indicator that we’re continue to build our future, together.”

Pave Aways will now go forward to the final of the Constructing Excellence SME of the Year, competing again other regional winners for the national title.

We are also finalists in a number of other upcoming awards this month – Wales Property Awards (Commercial Development of the Year), Constructing Excellence Wales (six awards including SME of the Year, People Development and Building Project of the Year) and the Shropshire Business Awards (Business in the Community and Wellbeing in the Workplace).
