On Friday 27th June, the Pave Aways team will take on our next charity challenge: walking up and down The Wrekin all the way from dawn to dusk to raise money for our Charity of the Year, Lingen Davies Cancer Fund.
The ‘Wrekin Relay’ will see our colleagues take turns in teams to climb the iconic Shropshire hill from 4am until 10pm, maintaining a continuous relay throughout the day. Every step we take will be in support of the newly launched Sunflower Appeal, Lingen Davies’ £5 million campaign to improve cancer care across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, and Mid Wales.

Funds to donated to the appeal will see the creation of a brand new Chemotherapy Centre at Princess Royal Hospital in Telford, set to open by 2029. This facility will work alongside the existing services at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital to double treatment capacity across the region.
This relay challenge up the Wrekin is a brilliant example of what our team does best: coming together, supporting one another, and putting in the effort to make a real difference.
Managing Director, Steven Owen says, “With our presence in Wellington with various schemes, The Wrekin felt like the perfect location for this year’s challenge as it’s right on our doorstep.
The incredible work that Lingen Davies does holds a personal meaning for us at Pave Aways, as one of our team is being supported by them through their treatment.
That’s why we’re proud to get behind the Sunflower Appeal and help build a future where cancer care is more accessible and closer to home for those in and around Telford.”
As the leading cancer charity for our area, Lingen Davies Cancer Fund is dedicated to supporting individuals and families as they navigate the challenges of a cancer diagnosis. We are proud to stand with them as they work to deliver improved facilities, earlier diagnosis, and life-changing treatment.
All donations to our JustGiving page will receive a free entry into our Prize Draw with the chance to win a DeWalt Hammer Drill Set worth over £250!

We’d also love your support on the day – come along to the Wrekin car park and cheer our teams on as they take on the climb! We’ll also be selling refreshments to raise additional funds for this amazing cause. (Please note: the car park is pay and display.)
The Lingen Davies plays an essential role in supporting people across our region during some of the most difficult moments in their lives. Every donation, no matter the size, will help make a lasting impact. Thank you for your support!
