National Apprenticeship Week

Here at Pave Aways we pride ourselves on our commitment to apprentices and the fact that many of our employees have been with us since starting out as an apprentice or trainee.

Currently 17 per cent of our employees are apprentices and through our apprenticeship programme, we aim to recruit a minimum of five apprentices each year across all aspects of the business.

Our office based apprentices work as trainee planners, accounts staff and quantity surveyors or are receiving on-the-job training in construction or office management. Those based on site work as carpenters, bricklayers or plasterers.

Managing director Steven Owen said: “We take great pride in our apprenticeship scheme and the fact we employ people from the local community. This not only supports the local economy but also helps to drive up local skills and building standards.

“Each year we review our apprentice programme and identify key employees who would benefit from working alongside an apprentice.

“This brings tangible benefits to the mentor through renewed vigour and enthusiasm in their trade. It also helps to drive up quality standards to ensure they teach their apprentice the morals of hard work and working safely.”

Apprentices successfully completing our programme become fully qualified and continue on site or in the office– making way for new apprentices to join our team.

If you’re interested in becoming an apprentice with Pave Aways, you can find out more on our apprenticeship page here.
