Build a bench workshop

Thanks to everyone who joined our construction skills workshop in Sarn – the finished benches were fabulous!

We had two groups, led by site manager John Friend and carpenter Jordan Barber, for the workshop that was part of the Department of Work and Pension’s Mentoring Circles scheme to help young unemployed people into work.

They received some construction training and then each group went onto build a bench with our apprentice carpenter Alex Burgoyne choosing the grey bench as the winner. They will now be donated to Sarn Village Hall next to our site.

Following on this workshop, some of the participants will be joining us for work experience at our site in Newtown, where we’re building low carbon apartments for Powys County Council. They’ll also be invited to apply for a job placement with us via the Government’s Kickstart scheme

Thanks to everyone involved including Tudor Griffiths Group for donating the paint and brushes.
