Digging deep in latest Welsh project

A five-week civil engineering contract to support the growth of a Welshpool packaging firm is underway.

We are laying a reinforced concrete slab at Wipak UK as part of the firm’s multi-million-pound strategic investment in state-of-the-art conversion equipment at its base at Welshpool Business Park. The combi laminator that will be installed will significantly enhance Wipak UK’s manufacturing capabilities and sustainable packaging product offering.

The project includes the screening of the works area to create a sterile environment, saw cutting and removing the existing floor slab, excavating down, and the shuttering and laying of reinforcement mesh and rebar. This is followed by the main concrete pour. All the work is being carried out whilst manufacturing continues as normal.

This is the third project Pave Aways has carried out at Wipak UK. Previous contracts include two extensions to the main factory area and associated external works.

Construction Director Jamie Evans said: “This is a short but intense programme of work where our civil engineering expertise and ability to work in live environments comes to the fore.

“Having worked with Wipak UK on several occasions, it’s gratifying to be part of their continued expansion.”
