Pave Aways renews relationship with school with new refurbishment contracts

We have started work on our 10th contract for one of the UK’s top independent schools.

We are currently carrying out the partial demolition, refurbishment, extension and remodelling of the Grade II listed Riggs Hall boarding house at Shrewsbury School. A smaller refurbishment of its Grove House accommodation has already been completed.

We have carried out extensive work at the Kingsland school, a co-educational school for students aged 13 to 18, since 2012. Significant projects include building the school’s flagship academic building, Hodgson Hall, in 2015, the creation of the Chatri Design Centre and the recent extension and refurbishment of the school’s Ashton Theatre.

Hodgson Hall, just one of the buildings Pave Aways has delivered for Shrewsbury School

The 39-week design and build contract for Riggs Hall will see us working with Shrewsbury based Arrol Architects and structural engineers Carrol and Williams alongside the school’s agent Virtus Consult to deliver the ambitious programme of work.  We commissioned Shrewsbury’s Baart Harries Newall as architects for the Grove House scheme.

Managing Director Steven Owen said: “We are very pleased to be renewing our long-standing relationship with Shrewsbury School to deliver these two important schemes.

“Our proven track record in education and in delivering projects with minimal disruption to the day-to-day running of school life has made us one of the go-to building contractors in this sector across Shropshire and Mid Wales.”
