School scores new sports kit and equipment

We have handed over more than £1,000 of sports kit and equipment to Llanfyllin School as part of our community benefits programme.

Construction Director Jamie Evans presented the donations to the students at the school following our recent completion of the new third generation multi sports pitch.

The 3G pitch is suitable for football, hockey and a wide variety of other outdoor sports. The project was part of the capital programme to improve facilities across the county to provide positive benefit to the health and well-being to the communities of Powys.

Our community benefits programme is a key pillar of our commitment to building more sustainable communities – we pledge to support local organisations and charities in the areas where we are working with either practical or financial help so they can achieve their goals.

Dewi Owen, Headteacher of Ysgol Llanfyllin, said: “The new pitch looks incredible and is going to be a huge boost to both the school and local community.

“The increase in participation in sport is going to be very significant and this will have a hugely positive effect on pupils’ physical and mental health, which is vital in these post pandemic years. This is a very important development for our community here in north Montgomeryshire.”
