Today we bid a fond farewell to one of our longest-serving team members, Site Manager Paul Evans, who has officially retired after an incredible 46 years of service at Pave Aways.
Members of the team gathered at our HQ in Knockin today to celebrate the retirement of our long-serving Site Manager, Paul – and what better day to do it than on his birthday!
It was a fantastic opportunity to reflect on Paul’s incredible 46-year career with Pave Aways, share stories from site, and show our appreciation for the role he’s played in shaping the business we are today.
Paul’s career began in the early days at Park Hall, where he started out on tarmac jobs before progressing through the business as it evolved into the main contractor we are today. Over the years, Paul has played a key role in delivering a wide range of projects, from industrial and commercial developments to complex education schemes – always bringing his wealth of experience, calm leadership, and dedication to every site he managed.
As the company grew, so too did Paul’s career. Working alongside contract managers, architects, and quantity surveyors, he’s seen the construction industry, and Pave-Aways, change dramatically, adapting and learning every step of the way.
Reflecting on his time at Pave Aways, Paul shared:
“The real reason I’ve spent over four and a half decades here at Pave Aways is because of you all [the people], that’s the main reason. My biggest thank you is to all my colleagues for making every day enjoyable, memorable, and full of teamwork – it’s been like one big family.”

Our Managing Director, Steven Owen, added:
“Paul epitomises Pave Aways and everything that’s good about us as a company. His 46 years of service are a true testament to the kind of person he is, and the impact he’s had on generations of colleagues, clients, and projects can’t be overstated.
“I’ve seen first-hand the respect and admiration he’s earned across the board. There wasn’t much space left to write in his card after it had been passed around the sites and the office which says everything about how well-liked and appreciated he is!”
Paul has seen the company through generations of change and progress, and his retirement marks the end of an era for many of us who have worked alongside him.
From everyone at Pave Aways – thank you, Paul, for your outstanding service over the past 46 years. We wish you all the very best for a well-earned and happy retirement!
