Inspiring the next generation of construction talent

Encouraging young people to explore rewarding careers in construction is a key part of what we do at Pave Aways and our team has been busier than ever recently, helping to build the future workforce of our industry.

This week alone, our team have been out at three separate events across Shropshire and Mid Wales, all aimed at inspiring students and supporting employability skills.

Jimmy and one of our newest apprentices, Nyle joined pupils at New Road Academy, Telford, where things got competitive in our new brick-building challenge! It’s a great hands-on way to showcase teamwork, problem-solving, and the fun side of construction!

Later, Sabrina, Alex, and new apprentice Joseph joined Shrewsbury College’s London Road Campus open evening to support their construction offering in apprenticeships, T Level placements, and Level 1–3 vocational diplomas, advising and helping prospective students discover the routes into a construction career.

On Friday, our Estimator, Mark took part in a morning of mock interviews at Ysgol Rhiwabon, giving students valuable real-world experience and confidence for their next steps.

These activities form part of our ongoing schools and colleges engagement programme, with over 15 careers events already pencilled in through to the end of 2025. We’re proud to share insights from across our business, from apprentices to directors, to help young people understand the range of opportunities available in the built environment.

Our award-winning apprenticeship scheme remains at the heart of this commitment, offering practical experience, professional training, and the chance to progress into long-term careers within our business. With over 30% of our current workforce having started out as apprentices, we know first-hand how vital early opportunities are in shaping successful futures.

At Pave Aways, we’re passionate about #BuildingOurFutureTogether — inspiring, supporting, and empowering the next generation to build brilliant careers in construction.
