We are pleased to handover the new dining room extension at Victoria Memorial Hospital in Welshpool, delivered on behalf of Powys Teaching Health Board.
The scheme provides a modern, spacious and functional environment designed to better support hospital staff and visitors. Carefully integrated with the existing building, the extension increases capacity while enhancing the overall layout and flow of the dining area.
The scope of works involved the construction of a carefully designed extension to the existing dining room, increasing capacity while seamlessly integrating with the hospital’s current layout. The new footprint required structural alterations to accommodate the expanded space, alongside the installation of new roof elements to tie in cohesively with the existing building fabric.

Internally, the project included a series of considered alterations to enhance flow, functionality and user experience, supported by upgraded mechanical and electrical systems to ensure the space performs as well as it looks. Modern lighting was installed to create a bright, welcoming environment, complemented by high-quality finishes throughout.
Externally, the works extended beyond the building envelope, incorporating new drainage infrastructure and comprehensive making good to all affected areas. Every element was delivered with close attention to detail, ensuring the extension not only met technical and compliance requirements but also provided a durable, practical and visually impactful addition to this important healthcare facility.
The project was completed on schedule and within budget, reflecting strong programme management and effective coordination between our site team, specialist subcontractors, and client representatives.
This was our first time working with Pave Aways, we are very happy with the way they have performed and their final product – the overall finish is to a very high standard. The team were always available and willing to help with all requests. The project was delivered within programme and budget despite challenging winter weather. Overall, it has been a hugely successful project, we look forward to working with you again.

As a new client relationship, this project represents a successful first collaboration with Powys Teaching Health Board. We value the positive working relationship established throughout this scheme and welcome future opportunities to work together in supporting healthcare provision across the region.
