We’re pleased to share another excellent milestone at Donnington Wood Infant School and Nursery, where the project has achieved an outstanding 45/45 score on its second Considerate Constructors Scheme visit.
Delivering this 49-week RAAC removal and refurbishment project within an operational school environment brings a unique set of challenges, requiring careful planning, clear communication and a constant focus on safety and consideration for pupils, staff and visitors – though at Donnington Wood, it feels like The Very Hungry Caterpillar has already worked its way through the programme and left us with a tidy finish ahead of handover!

As the project nears completion, works are progressing well towards the upcoming handover during the Spring term break, when the refurbished areas will be returned to the school. This will include fully refurbished classrooms, nursery accommodation, toilets and staff facilities, providing pupils and staff with an improved and modernised learning environment ready for their return after the holidays.
Once the school has returned to full use of the refurbished spaces, our team will continue externally, reinstating the playground areas following the removal of temporary classroom accommodation, with overall project completion scheduled for early summer.
Achieving a second perfect CCS score at this stage of the programme demonstrates how strongly these principles are being upheld day to day on site. It reflects not only compliance with the CCS Code of Considerate Practice, but a consistent commitment to going beyond it in everything we do, driven by our SITES values.
The CCS recognises contractors that demonstrate high standards across three core areas: community engagement, environmental responsibility and workforce wellbeing – all of which remain central to our approach across every project we deliver. This latest result adds to a strong track record of high-performing CCS assessments across our projects. Recent examples include:
- Wellington Market – 45/45
- Millbrook Primary School – 45/45
- 1 Walker Street, Wellington – 45/45
- Donnington Wood Primary School – 45/45 (second visit)
- Wellington Pool – 44/45
- Wellington Orbit – 43/45
- Huxley Laboratory Development, Keele University – 42/45
- Shones Lane Residential Development, Llay, Wrexham – 41/45
This performance also builds on our recent shortlisting for the national Excellence in Construction – SME award at the Considerate Constructors Scheme 2025 Gala Awards. Being recognised among just five SMEs nationwide is a significant achievement and reflects the consistent standards being delivered across all our projects.
