Pave-Aways’ recently handed-over scheme at the Victoria Memorial Hospital in Welshpool has been shortlisted for the Delivering Value Award at the Constructing Excellence Wales Awards!
Delivered for Powys Teaching Health Board, the scheme transformed an outdated staff dining area into a modern, functional space that improves capacity, circulation, and staff wellbeing at the hospital.
Working within a live hospital environment required a considered and collaborative approach. Careful planning and close coordination with the client and stakeholders ensured that hospital operations continued safely and without disruption throughout the works, with particular attention given to maintaining access routes and supporting day-to-day clinical activity.
Despite the challenges of delivering within an operational healthcare setting and across winter conditions, the project was completed safely, on programme, and within budget.
This shortlisting reflects the strength of the collaborative working relationship with Powys Teaching Health Board and the focus on delivering practical, well-considered solutions that achieve best value for the public sector. It also highlights Pave-Aways’ ongoing commitment to enhancing healthcare environments through efficient delivery, quality workmanship, and a clear understanding of client needs.
More than a refurbishment, the project demonstrates how targeted investment in healthcare estates can create lasting improvements for staff and service users alike.
