Phased return to construction

In compliance with the new coronavirus Site Operating Procedures, Pave Aways is planning a phased return to construction projects.

Work will restart at Welshpool Church in Wales School and Ladywell House in Newtown this week with remaining sites resuming operations in the coming weeks as it is safe and appropriate to do so.

As ever, protecting the health of our team and sub contractors is our priority and we will be working to the approved protocols from the Construction Leadership Council that are in line with Public Health England guidance.

This has involved reviewing and changing work programmes and reducing the number of people on site to ensure social distancing is maintained as well as other measures that will ensure the wellbeing of those involved. Office based staff who are working will continue to be based from home for the period of the government imposed lockdown.

Managing Director Steven Owen said: “I am confident that the decision we took to suspend operations on March 24 was the right one to look after the immediate welfare of our team and to consider how we could continue to deliver the high standard of construction excellence we aspire to within the constraints of social distancing.

“The government has now issued clear guidance that construction work plays an important role in ensuring public safety and the provision of public services and can continue as long as people adhere to the correct procedures.

“We have taken time to consider how we can resume operations on our existing sites in a way that protects the health and wellbeing of our team and sub contractors. We are adapting our working schedules and arrangements accordingly which may mean amended programmes of activity and reduced presence on site. We will be reviewing this regularly.”

He added: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Pave Aways for their understanding and resilience in this testing time. We really do have the best team and I am immensely grateful for their continuing support.”
