We are appealing for charities and community groups in Newtown and Welshpool that need a helping hand with building work to come forward.
We are looking for a village hall, community centre or sports club where we can provide general building repairs, decorating or plastering free of charge in Newtown, where we’re building new homes for Powys County Council, and in Welshpool, where we’re working on a £1.98m research and development centre on behalf of the Welsh Government. This is part of our pledge to support the areas where we work.
During a recent project to build a new primary school in Welshpool, we carried out repairs and decorating at the new Welshpool base of the Ponthafren Association, maintenance on the Pavilion in Forden and improvements to the Jubilee Hut in Guilsfield and Welshpool Rugby and Cricket Club.
We are also appealing for young and unemployed people who want to learn construction skills to work with it on these community projects.
Managing Director Steven Owen said: “We are committed to supporting the communities where we live and work and would like pay something back to organisations that deserve our help.
“It might be a village hall that needs a lick of paint, a sports pavilion that needs some updating or another building that provides facilities for local people that is in need of our professional skills.
“We also want to help people who are out of work to join us in these community projects and get some free construction experience. We will give them some advice and training so they can learn more about working in construction and possibly open up new career opportunities for them.”
Any community organisation or person interested in working with us should email michelle.benjamin@paveaways.co.uk.
