Pave Aways prepares students for employment

As part of our commitment to training the workforce of the future, we have been helping schools in Shropshire and Mid Wales with interview skills.

Our training manager Michelle recently conducted the mock interview sessions with year 11 students at Ysgol Calon Cymru in Llandrindod Wells and Builth Wells and year 10 pupils at The Grove School in Market Drayton.

The trials gave them the opportunity to explore what a typical interview entails, the kind of questions asked and to learn how to respond and what employers are looking for.

She’s had some great feedback too:

Ysgol Calon Cymru: “Thank you very much for offering your expertise to Yr.11, and for giving us the opportunity of a professional experience for our future benefit. Because of this, we feel that we’ll be more confident going into future interviews.”

The Grove School: “If it wasn’t for companies and people like you, then these students would only ever interact with teachers. It’s so important for them to ‘feel nervous’ or make ‘small talk’ and you allow this to happen and those that don’t feel the benefit yet, will at some point when they mature or when they’re looking for employment!”

As well as giving career advice and support such as mock interview and talks to schools and colleges, we offer on site and office-based work experience to young people to sample life in the construction sector.

Our Build a Bench workshops, where people can learn hands-on construction skills, can also be hosted in schools. To find out more or book a careers visit, please contact michelle.benjamin@paveaways.co.uk.
