Student lays the foundation for construction career

A Shropshire construction student has been getting practical experience of life on a building site with a work placement at one of our Telford projects.

Will Kinney, who is studying for a Level 3 BTEC in Construction and the Built Environment at the Shrewsbury Colleges Group, has been spending time with site manager Tom Ford at Tweedale Fire Station to learn more about what the role involves as he’s interested in a career in site management. are currently refurbishing the Bridgnorth Road site to include fitness facilities for the firefighters, improved security, staff accommodation and elements to reduce the environmental impact of the station.

Construction Director Jamie Evans said: “We’re always keen to bring on the next generation and are happy to help students like Will understand more about what’s involved in running a project.

“It’s invaluable for their portfolio of experience and the chance to put what they’re learning into practice.”

Pave Aways is currently recruiting for an apprentice site supervisor — anyone interested in the role should email a covering letter and CV to info@paveaways.co.uk.
