Pave Aways scores new council contract

Pave Aways has won a new contract to install a new third generation sports pitch in Mid Wales.

The new 3G pitch will be installed at Llanfyllin Sports Centre for Powys County Council and Freedom Leisure, replacing the outdated sports pitch and will include an improved floodlighting scheme. It will be suitable for football, hockey and a number of other outdoor sports for the community of Llanfyllin and visitors to use.

It is the latest in a series of contracts we have completed for Powys County Council and another in our leisure portfolio. Previous jobs in the sector have included building a high-performance training centre for premiership team, Aston Villa.

The project will be managed by our team based in Newtown office. Construction Director Jamie Evans said: “We are looking forward to delivering this exciting new facility for this community in Mid Wales. It will also bring investment to the area through our use of sub contractors and suppliers in our supply chain that are based in the area.”

Cllr David Selby, Cabinet Member for a More Prosperous Powys, said: “This development demonstrates our continued commitment to provide high-quality, inclusive and fully accessible leisure facilities for all communities in Powys.  It is also another great example of partnership working between the council and Freedom Leisure.”

Gwyn Owen, Freedom Leisure’s Area Manager for Powys, said: “The new 3G pitch will be hugely beneficial for all our customers in Llanfyllin to remain as active and healthy as possible and a fantastic incentive to encourage greater outdoor participation for all within the community.”
