It’s an exciting moment for Pave Aways as we reflect on a morning at the Shropshire Chamber Connect in Business Expo and share the news that we’ve been shortlisted for two major categories at this year’s Business Awards: Company of the Year and Best Place to Work.
For a business that proudly won Company of the Year in 2019, this recognition feels particularly special. It marks a continuation of the journey since then, one shaped by steady growth, investment in people, and a clear focus on delivering high-quality projects that make a difference across Shropshire.
The Company of the Year award celebrates organisations demonstrating excellence across every area of business—from leadership and financial performance to innovation, customer service, and community impact. It recognises businesses that not only succeed commercially, but actively contribute to their region.

The Best Place to Work category highlights employers who genuinely put people first, creating a culture where wellbeing, opportunity, and development are embedded into everyday working life.
At the heart of Pave-Aways is a 63-strong team, with almost 40% having started their careers with us as apprentices and progressed into long-term roles within the business. That focus on growing our own talent continues to shape who we are today.
In the last year alone, the business has delivered over 1,600 hours of training, maintained strong employee engagement through regular company-wide feedback, and continued to invest in mental health and wellbeing support across the organisation. Alongside this, we remain proud of our deep-rooted commitment to Shropshire—supporting local supply chains, creating opportunities, and delivering projects that strengthen communities.
Managing Director Steven Owen said:
“We’re incredibly proud to be shortlisted in both categories. Winning Company of the Year in 2019 was a milestone for us, and to be recognised again, alongside Best Place to Work, reflects the continued evolution of our business and the commitment of our team.”
We look forward to celebrating alongside fellow finalists later this year. Congratulations to all those shortlisted, it’s fantastic to see so many strong businesses across Shropshire being recognised.
