Pave-Aways Ltd has been honoured with a King’s Award for Enterprise for Promoting Opportunity.
Pave-Aways is one of only 185 organisations nationally to be recognised with a prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise in 2026. Announced today (Wednesday 6 May), the Award acknowledges the company’s outstanding achievement in creating opportunity and improving social mobility through meaningful careers in construction.
Founded in 1973 and based in rural Shropshire, Pave Aways delivers construction projects across Shropshire, Mid Wales and the West Midlands. Through its Looking After Our Workforce initiative, launched in 2020, the company has focused on wellbeing, training, apprenticeships and clear progression routes, creating accessible pathways into the construction industry for local people. Over the past five years, this approach has supported 472 individuals, including 288 from disadvantaged backgrounds, and enabled 94 internal promotions, with an average staff tenure of 10.8 years.

The King’s Awards for Enterprise – previously known as The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise – were renamed in 2023 to reflect His Majesty The King’s commitment to continuing the legacy of HM Queen Elizabeth II in celebrating exceptional UK businesses.
Now in its 60th year, the King’s Awards for Enterprise remain the UK’s most prestigious business accolades.
