Pave-Aways opens doors to award-winning Apprenticeship opportunities

Pave-Aways has officially opened applications for its September 2026 apprenticeship intake, welcoming aspiring construction professionals to apply across a number of disciplines within the business.

At Pave-Aways, apprenticeships are a key part of how we invest in the future of our business and the wider construction industry. This year, we are welcoming applications across a number of roles, including:

  • Carpentry apprenticeships,
  • Property Maintenance Operative (PMO) apprenticeships,
  • Site Engineer apprenticeship and
  • trainee Quantity Surveyor.

For many years, we have been committed to creating meaningful career opportunities for young people looking to enter the construction industry. Our apprenticeship programme is designed to provide hands-on experience, practical learning and long-term career development, helping individuals build the confidence, skills and experience needed to succeed within the sector.

We are proud that many of our former apprentices have gone on to build successful careers within the business, with some now mentoring and supporting the next generation coming through the programme.

Our continued commitment to apprenticeships and workforce development has recently been recognised through back-to-back success at the Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin Apprenticeship Awards, where we were proud to be named Medium Employer of the Year in both 2024 and 2025.

Apprentices joining Pave-Aways gain experience on live construction projects while working alongside experienced professionals across a wide range of disciplines. Alongside technical training, we place a strong emphasis on personal development, communication, teamwork and confidence building, ensuring apprentices feel supported throughout their journey with us.

We will once again be working in partnership with local training providers SBC Training, Shrewsbury Colleges Group and Telford College to support apprentices throughout their learning and development.

Aaron Pritchard, who began his journey at Pave-Aways as a site labourer before progressing into carpentry and recently qualified, said:

“I was eager to learn and prove myself in construction, and after a year on site I knew I wanted to take the next step towards carpentry. I’m very grateful that Pave-Aways gave me this opportunity, and for Paul’s mentorship throughout the whole learning experience.”

We continue to work closely with local schools, colleges and training providers to help promote careers in construction and encourage more young people to consider the wide range of opportunities available within the industry.

Managing Director, Steven Owen, who started at Pave-Aways as a site engineer, said:

“We are incredibly proud of the apprenticeship culture we have built at Pave-Aways and the opportunities it continues to create for young people across the region. Investing in apprenticeships is not only important for the future of our business, but for the future of the construction industry as a whole.

Seeing former apprentices grow into experienced members of the team and help mentor the next generation is something we are especially proud of.”

As the construction industry continues to face an ongoing skills shortage, we believe investing in apprenticeships has never been more important. By developing talent internally and supporting individuals at the very start of their careers, we are helping to strengthen the future workforce while continuing to uphold the high standards and values that define Pave-Aways.

Three of our 2025 Apprentices: Joseph, Nyle, and Arrun.
