Team Pave Aways rises to the challenge

From scaling new heights (literally) – to axe throwing and driving blindfolded, it was all a matter of teamwork as we came together for our annual away day.

We closed our sites and head office on November 4 and gathered at The Edge outdoor activities centre near Much Wenlock to take part in a series of fun and challenging team building activities.

The annual event is one of the most important days in the Pave Aways calendar as our on-site and office and home workers come together to learn more about each other and build their relationships.

Teams, led by the newest recruits to the business, took part in a series of physical and problem-solving based activities with the focus on communication and working together including blindfolded driving, tag archery, axe throwing, shooting, and a Jacob’s Ladder challenge that brought out the best in every team.

Managing director Steven Owen said: “The away day is an incredibly valuable event for us as a team. With our staff split over many sites in their day-to-day work, it is the one day of the year we can all be together and strengthen our personal and team bonds as the nature of our work means our paths don’t often cross if it weren’t for opportunities like this.

“The whole day demonstrated that our culture truly reflects our newly established core company values that embody safety, integrity, teamwork, excellence, and sustainability. It helps inform our strategy for personnel development but it’s also always a lot of fun as well.”
